Placer Gold Ore Beneficiation Equipment

Due to the high density and specific gravity of native gold, which is much greater than common gangue, gravity separation is widely used for placer gold ore beneficiation. The following are commonly used equipment for placer gold recovery:

1. Trommel Screen

Since raw placer gold ore often contains significant amounts of clay and gravel, pre-treatment with a trommel screen is necessary. Through the rotation of the drum and the washing action of high-pressure water, the material is fully broken up and cleaned, releasing trapped gold particles and screening out oversized gravel.

2. Jig Machine

A jig machine is a device that utilizes pulsating water flow for separation and has a large processing capacity. It is primarily used for the rough concentration of placer gold ore, enabling efficient and rapid waste rejection.

3. Pulsating Sluice Box

The pulsating sluice box is an upgraded version of the fixed sluice box. When processing material with high clay content, the bed in a fixed sluice can become compacted, leading to gold losses in the tailings. In contrast, the bed of a pulsating sluice box remains loose, allowing gold particles to penetrate efficiently to the bottom. It is often used for scavenging from jig machine tailings, effectively improving the overall recovery rate of the placer gold ore.

4. Centrifugal Concentrator

The centrifugal concentrator, also known as a Knelson concentrator, utilizes a high-speed rotating bowl to generate a strong centrifugal force field. It is particularly effective for recovering fine gold particles that are difficult to recover with other equipment.

5. Shaking Table

The shaking table offers high separation precision and is often used as a final cleaning device in placer gold beneficiation. Through the asymmetric reciprocating motion of the deck and the washing action of lateral water flow, minerals of different densities form distinct bands. Due to its highest specific gravity, gold ultimately concentrates at the concentrate end.
